Description

YORK SE6051NE FOSSGATE 1112-1/17/339 (North East side) No.23 GV II House with shop. Early C19, with earlier origins; later alterations and extension. Front of painted brick in Flemish bond with shopfront and eaves guttering of timber; returns of orange brick, rear tile-hung: shallow-pitched roof, tile at front, pantile at rear, with left end brick stack. EXTERIOR: 3-storey 2-window front. Plain shopfront of pilasters and fascia between grooved consoles, with glazed and panelled door and overlight recessed between plate glass windows. First and second floor windows are 12-pane sashes with slender glazing bars and painted stone sills: all have flat arches, those on second floor masked by eaves band and box guttering on paired modillion brackets.
