Description

YORK SE6152NW HEWORTH GREEN, Heworth 1112-1/10/1224 (South side) 24/06/83 No.44 GV II Includes: No.1 MILL LANE Heworth. Two houses, now house and flats. c1835-40. Brick with painted stone or stucco dressings. Slate roof, with main roof hipped at right. EXTERIOR: 3 storeys with cellars. Facade to Heworth Green of 4 bays. The windows are glazing bar sashes. On the ground and 2nd floors they have painted rusticated lintels. On the 1st floor they have architraves with cornices on console brackets and a moulded sill band. The door, in the 2nd bay, has 4 raised and fielded panels with a plain rectangular overlight. It is set within an architrave with a cornice on console brackets. At the eaves there is a plain frieze and a heavily-moulded gutter cornice. Chimneys to left and right and near centre of ridge. The left-hand bay of the right-hand return facade, facing Mill Lane, is similar to the main facade except that the windows are blind and are covered by external louvred shutters. To the right are 2 lower bays, also of 3 storeys. The windows are glazing bar sashes with painted rusticated lintels. In the left-hand bay there is an entrance with pilaster reveals, a moulded round arch with keystone, and a cornice. Set within it are 2 recessed doorways. Further to the right there is a single-storey one-bay wing which has a window recess with rusticated lintel and louvred shutters. INTERIOR: not inspected.
