Abstract/Summary
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken by Humber Field Archaeology during groundwork associated with the construction of a new terrace dwelling on land to the rear of 75 Walmgate, York.
Monitoring of the excavation of the building footings revealed a fragmentary structure composed of reused 16th -17th century bricks. The exposed stratigraphy comprised modern make up and demolition levels and garden soil. The latter was dated by the small pottery assemblage to the 18th -19th century. A fragment of medieval window mullion was also recovered.
