Abstract/Summary
An archaeological watching brief on two engineering test pits in advance of road improvements to the A641Top Lane junction at Copmanthorpe near York revealed little of archaeological interest. A possible ditchlfteld drain and a former plough soil were noted above natural deposits. No trace of the Roman roadfrom York (Eboracum) to Tadcaster (Calcaria) was found.
