With natural clay sub-soil being present across the majority of the site directly beneath the modern buildings, it must be presumed that modern development removed most of the top soil which would have contained any archaeological remains. However no evidence of archaeological features cut into the subsoil was found either suggesting perhaps that little if any archaeological occupation took place on the site.
