York Historic Environment Record

The work consisted of the recording of the stonework of the east elevation, from first floor level, and of the north and south towers prior to repointing. The internal elevations of the top of the bar were also recorded as part of this work. The recording included noting the degree of weathering on individual blocks, the type of stone used, the orientation of the grain where visible, and the type of mortar bonding the stonework. Any cracks in individual blocks were added to those already on the photogrammetric drawings supplied by the City of York Council.
