Source/Archive record SYO2387 - Steelflex and NRM Site Foundry Lane

Title Steelflex and NRM Site Foundry Lane
Author/Originator
Date/Year 2000

Abstract/Summary

The report provides evidence for archaeological activity in the general area of the present site but due to episodes of earth-moving in the last century or so the condition of any archaeological deposits, features, and structures remains uncertain. Some parts of the site appear to be largely free from modern disturbance and may contain stratified deposits of the Roman period. Remains of the medieval period are not so likely since the area was used for agricultural purposes until the late 19th century. The area is clearly rich in material of the 19th and 20th centuries and includes some buildings which may be of historical railway interest.
