Title 23 Piccadilly
Author/Originator
Date/Year 2019

Abstract/Summary

23 Piccadilly was built in 1938 and includes a basement and during construction a Roman masonry structure was observed during the construction of the current building in 1938. The DBA and borehole survey indicated that the site may contain features of Roman, medieval and post-medieval/early modern date. The three boreholes in the courtyard of the building indicated up to 4.80m depth of archaeological deposits which are unlikely to waterlogged. Natural deposits were recorded at 5.94m AOD and obstructions related to post medieval strucutures were encountered in bore hole 2 and borehole 3 may have struck the Roman building observed in 1938 at 7.20m AOD.
