Source/Archive record SYO2290 - Land off School Lane, Heslington

Title Land off School Lane, Heslington
Author/Originator
Date/Year 1998

Abstract/Summary

WB during excavation for new dwellings. From the trench side sections it was possible to make out the regular rise and fall of the plough soil above the sub-soil, suggesting the remains of medieval ridge and furrow cultivation. The brick rubble and demolition debris disturbed in the excavations would seem to be the remains of a small brick building possibly of 19th century date.
