Abstract/Summary
A Geophysical Survey was undertaken in March 2014 by Archaeological Services WYAS and no anomalies of archaeological potential were identified.
The site was 2.69 hectares in size and 880m2 of trenching was conducted.
Eleven Evaluation Trenches were excavated and located in the areas stipulated in the Specification, all were 40m by 2m in size.
Two trenches contained modern disturbance. Seven trenches contained modern land drains. These features probably all relate to the use of the area as fields and gardens in the recent past. Finds recovered from the topsoil, included sherds of Medieval and Post-medieval pottery, a flint flake and a fragment of clay tobacco pipe. The flint artefact is residual but indicates prehistoric activity in the area.
