Summary

Church school, now office. Dated 1848; converted 1980s. Mottled brick with limestone ashlar dressings. Slate roof. Main building aligned north-south, with a projecting wing on the east side which has a porch against its south wall. EXTERIOR: single storey, now with inserted upper floor. The south gable, facing the road, has diagonal buttresses and projecting verges.

Full Description

Church school, now office. Dated 1848; converted 1980s. Mottled brick with limestone ashlar dressings. Slate roof. Main building aligned north-south, with a projecting wing on the east side which has a porch against its south wall. EXTERIOR: single storey, now with inserted upper floor. The south gable, facing the road, has diagonal buttresses and projecting verges. The window has 3 lights and a transom and has segmental arches to all its openings. Above, there is a plaque inscribed: 'ERECTED BY THE REVd ORB 1848'. The right-hand return wall, facing east, is of 3 bays separated by buttresses and has mullioned windows of 2, 3 and 2 lights with segmental heads to the lights. The porch has a hipped roof. To the right of the door there is a single-light window, and the door has a chamfered ashlar surround with shouldered arch. The east gable of the wing is similar to the south gable. Chimneys, with paired diagonal shafts, on main ridge and on ridge of wing. INTERIOR: not inspected.
