Model Farm is typical of mid-18th – 19th century farm complexes with an arrangement of
parallel building ranges around an open courtyard. The first edition Ordnance Survey map of
1850 shows the farm complex with a range of buildings along the southeast, southwest and
northwest with an open end to the northeast. The 1893 Ordnance Survey indicates the
complex generally as it is seen today with an additional range of buildings set back along the
northeast side. (On-Site Archaeology 2019).
