Seven trees were originally planted outside the Osbaldwick and Murton War Memorial Institute and recreational grounds which is now occupied by Wm. Anelay Ltd. The trees (along with the building) are now gone. A new memorial tree was planted in 2009 along with a new plaque on a large stone. The original board read: ERECTED IN HONOUR OF THOSE WHO SERVED/ 1914 - 1918/ (NAMES)/ SEVEN OAKS PLANTED OUTSIDE COMMEMORATE THE SUPREME SACRIFICE MADE BY THOSE MARKED THUS +/ MADE AND PRESENTED BY V.A SENIOR AND I. WOODCOCK PLAQUE: THIS TABLET/ WAS ORIGINALLY PLACED IN/ THE OSBALDWICK & MURTON/ MEMORIAL HALL/ AND REMOVED/ JUNE 30TH 1939/ TO THE CHURCH HALL. A new plaque further honouring the war dead of Osbaldwick and Murton 1914-18 and 1939-45 has been installed. Location on HER GIS uncertain
