Summary
The sword fragment from Acomb is for ease of reference described as the Acomb pommel, but in fact more of the weapon survives than the name suggests, including the upper part of the grip, the upper guard, and the pommel itself. The lavishly decorated fragment belongs to a well-known group of 9th and early 10th century swords.
