NMR Information:
Roman Pottery found AD 1926-28 (NAT) (SE 60865475). (1)

Traces of walling and Roman pottery were found west of the road
and south of the railway by workmen quarrying clay in 1926.
The walling was destroyed. In 1926-8 excavations by boys of
Bootham School traced ditches of two sides of an enclosure, and
exposed Roman tiles, bricks, querns and pottery extending from
2nd-4th century. (2)

NK 24 In 1926 workmen found traces of walling and pottery. Between 1926 and 1928 schoolboys traced two sides of a ditch, presumably surrounding the Roman settlement. They found pottery of the 2nd-4th centuries, querns, tiles and bricks, one stamped VILEG. Site destroyed. (3)
