Houses, No. 57, of three storeys, were built as a pair in the late 18th century but are now incorporated into a department store which also includes the house forming the pair to No. 55 and a tall late 19th-century block to the S. The front elevation, above a modern shop front, is rendered and the windows have been altered. Internally, the houses had staircases between single rooms at the front and back but these and other fittings and parts of the back walls have been removed, though the roof-lights over the original stair-wells remain.
