House and Shop, Nos. 37, 39, was built in 1827–8 when the corner with Stonegate was improved (YG, 19 Jan. 1828). It is of four storeys, with an elevation, partly curved round the corner, of fine red brick in English bond, sash windows with recessed frames, and a timber Doric cornice; the attractive shop front is of the later 19th century.
