Description

Test pittings and borehole survey. Test pits suggest a combination of shallow footings the tower and the wall combined with the rubble infill of the tower have contributed to structural movement. The borehole survey investigated the medieval rampart to a greater depth and suggested that there were obvious earlier structures beneath the tower as well as characterising the infill deposits of the ditch.
