Description

The area was four fields used for hay pasture and one field of overgrown scrub. Three of the fields contained ponds. An Archaeological Geophysical Survey was undertaken in December 2014 by Phase Site Investigations Ltd. And no anomalies of archaeological potential were identified. Trial trenching was undertaken across 5.9 hectares in size - 1700m2 of trenching was conducted. Seventeen Evaluation Trenches were excavated and all were 50m by 2m in size. Three trenches contained signs of modern activity, including a drain seen in Trenches 7 & 9 and a posthole in Trench 8. No further archaeological work is necessary in respect of this site.
