Description

YORK SE5951SW ST PAUL'S SQUARE 1112-1/19/954 (East side) 24/06/83 Nos.4-7 (Consecutive) and attached walls and railings (Formerly Listed as: ST PAUL'S SQUARE Nos.1-11 (Consecutive)) GV II Four houses. Mid C19. Brick with some painted stone dressings. Slate roof. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys above basement. Each house 2 bays. At the left each has a canted bay window on the ground floor with a modillioned cornice and with a brick base which contains basement windows. The canted bay windows have sashes without glazing bars, except for No 4 where the upper sashes have small panes of coloured glass. The 1st floor windows have a sill band. Those to Nos 4 and 5 are sashed without glazing bars, and those to Nos 6 and 7 have sashes divided into square panes, 4 above 4. At the right each house has a doorcase with a mutuled cornice and with pilasters which have sunken panels. The doors have 4 panels with overlights. The gutters are supported on rectangular timber brackets. Chimneys between houses. INTERIORS: not inspected. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: the garden front walls are of brick with stone copings. Nos 4 and 5 have cast-iron railings, gateposts and gates. Nos 6 and 7 have low walls without railings and have cast-iron gates and gateposts; one gatepost to each house is truncated. Return walls with railings separate the gardens of Nos 5 and 6 and Nos 7 and 8. Listing NGR: SE5912251349
