Description

YORK SE5951SE BLOSSOM STREET 1112-1/20/60 (South East side) 24/06/83 No.39 (Formerly Listed as: BLOSSOM STREET No.39 Lion and Lamb Public House) GV II Public house, now offices. 1828. Painted brick with painted stone or stucco dressings. Hipped slate roof. EXTERIOR: symmetrical, of 3 storeys and 3 bays. The windows to the upper storeys are glazing bar sashes with painted rusticated lintels which have keystones with an incised leaf pattern. Above the ground floor there is a continuous plain timber entablature. In the outer bays there are canted timber oriels with glazing bars. The doorcase has panelled pilasters and a door with 6 raised and fielded panels. Instead of an overlight there is a blind semicircular head. The gutter is carried on paired rectangular timber brackets. No chimneys visible. INTERIOR: not inspected. (RCHME: City of York: South-west of the Ouse: HMSO: 1972-: 124). Listing NGR: SE5967151334
