Description

1112-1/20/281 CYGNET STREET 22-JUL-03 (Southwest side) 16 ST CLEMENTS CHURCH HOUSE GV II House, now church house. c1830. Brick with painted stone dressings. Slate roof. EXTERIOR: facade symmetrical, of 2 storeys and 3 bays. The windows are sashed without glazing bars and have rusticated painted lintels. There is a 1st floor sill band. The central 1st floor bay has a blind recess with a rusticated lintel and with a painted inscription: 'ST CLEMENT'S CHURCH HOUSE'. The timber doorcase has plain pilasters, square corner bosses, and a plain semicircular overlight. The door has 6 raised and fielded panels. The gutter is supported by rectangular timber brackets. Chimneys with truncated caps to left and right. INTERIOR: not inspected. At rear this building is attached to St Clement's Church Hall, Nunthorpe Road (qv). Listing NGR: SE5988051139
