Description

YORK SE6052SE GOODRAMGATE 1112-1/14/395 (North West side) 24/06/83 No.24 GV II House, now shop and hairdressing salon. Early C17 origins, remodelled C18 and C19; C19 shopfront with C20 glazing. Front of stuccoed brick; rear of orange-grey brick in stretcher bond incorporating area of red-brown brick and fragments of timber-framing; pantile roof. EXTERIOR: 2-storey 2-window gabled front. Shopfront has moulded fascia and cornice, and integral sun canopy; plate glass windows over tiled risers flank angled glazed doors. First floor windows are 1-pane sashes in moulded surrounds over broad sill band. Similar band forms eaves frieze and extends along base of gable cornice, creating gable pediment. Fragment of wallpost from earlier neighbouring house is visible at left of first floor. Rear: lower 2-storey wing projects at left. Rear wall of front range has 4-pane sash windows to first floor and attic. INTERIOR: not inspected. House was the Beech Tree Public House in 1851.
