Full Description

Sundial. 1730, re-erected c1955. Stone with copper gnomen and lead straps. Circular on plan. Fluted Doric column surmounted by cubical sundial with cornice and ball and pedestal finial: approximately 3 metres high. Column encircled by flat seat carried on the back of 4 lions couchants. Sundial brought from Drakelowe Hall, Burton-on-Trent, by the Friends of York Minster, and re-erected as part of improvements to College Green.
